First Consultation / Assessment

If you are interested in making an appointment to discuss beginning psychoanalytic psychotherapy, please contact me to make an appointment or to arrange to talk with me.

If you choose to go ahead, you will be offered up to four consultation sessions. The first will last for up to 75 minutes, and any subsequent session(s) would last for 50 minutes. Consultation sessions are usually one week apart.  These sessions provide you and myself with an opportunity to reflect on the problems that bring you to consider psychotherapy, to describe your personal history, and to consider the benefits and implications of beginning this form of psychotherapy.

By the end of the agreed consultation session(s) you should have a sense of what you might be embarking upon and how psychotherapy may help you. If psychoanalytic psychotherapy does not seem appropriate, I will discuss other models of therapy with you and may be able to help find an alternative practitioner.

Ongoing therapy fees will be discussed in the assessment process.
